Grimsby Rotary @Noon was thrilled to organize their 14th annual Mayor's Charity Gala, presented Feb. 23, 2019.

We were extremely pleased to have our Mayor, Jeff Jordan, speak at this event, noting that Grimsby is made better by its many volunteers working together for the community with events such as this.  Mayor Jeff Jordan is serving his first term as Mayor of the Town of Grimsby, since being  sworn into office on Dec. 3, 2018.  His political career began in 1997 and he served nine years as a town councillor for the Town of Grimsby.  Our club was pleased to host Jeff Jordan during his campaign, and to continue the long and strong relationship our club has had with the Town of Grimsby.

This year, the headline recipient of the Gala is Gillian's Place, providing support and shelter for women and children who have experienced abuse.  Recently, Gillian's place has expanded with the goal of providing an enhanced level of service and support in West Niagara.  We also heard from Nelles Manor museum, the newest local historic site, in one of the oldest buildings in the region, who benefited from last year's Gala.

The evening began with a harpist, champaign and hors d'hoeuvres as guests began bidding on the silent auction items.  Guests enjoyed a 4 course menu at Casablanca Inn followed by dancing to some favourite tunes.

Thank you to Mayor Jeff Jordan, the town councillors, Rotarian volunteer,s and all the local businesses and individuals who sponsored, donated, or participated in this event to ensure its success.

It is a credit to our community to be able to come together and help those in need and it is most appreciated.
