Grimsby Rotary @Noon was extremely pleased to be able to present a Paul Harris award again this year to a community volunteer that lives our motto of "Service Above Self".  Paul Harris was the founder of Rotary and members of the club must have collectively contributed US$1,000 to the Rotary Foundation for the privilege of recognizing a person in this way.

This year, Grimsby Rotary @Noon is happy to present the Paul Harris award to Marion Thorp, General Manager of Grimsby Benevolent Fund (GBF), and long-time community volunteer.  Many staff, volunteers and family attended to share the celebration!  Speeches and certificates were presented from GBF Executive Director Stacey Elia, Grimsby Mayor Bob Bentley, Regional Councillor Tony Quirk and Linda Arbuckle, representing MP Dean Alison.
Rotary's District Governor Jack Amico and his wife attended and Jack spoke of the wonderful benefits of Lighting up Rotary in our communities.
Thanks to Norm Beal and Peninsula Ridge for helping our club provide wine and delicious appetizers. The atmosphere was enhanced with cocktail music on the keyboard played by David Kelly and by Rotary Exchange Student Joanne Kuo of Taiwan.
What a happy celebration!
